Kitchen (Remodelling) Nightmares: What Can Go Wrong!
When it comes to kitchen planning, you may be excited at the prospect of having a new kitchen installed and new appliances to play with. The problem is that there are plenty of ways that your kitchen remodel could go entirely wrong.
We’re not talking about the smaller remodels and renovations because you can easily fix your high end stove with these replacement parts and have no issues at all. However, should you really try to do it all yourself? Should you forgo the cost of a contractor in favor of trying to do it all yourself? Probably not! You need to know that you have the right budget and the right ideas so that your kitchen goes to plan. It’s not always a simple remodel, though, and you need to know what could go wrong so that you can make as many changes as you like without much work behind it. So, let’s take a look at some of the things that could go wrong with your kitchen if you’re not careful.
- What If It Takes Too Long?
You have a job booked and you want to enjoy a brand new kitchen out of it, but what if it’s been a month and you’re still waiting for the building site to disappear? You need to have a building contractor that will stick to schedule, which is why it’s so important that you shop around for the right people.
- You’ve Burst Your Budget Banks
You had a set budget, but you really like the new cupboards that you spotted, and having an island in the kitchen is a must all of a sudden. It’s a remodelling nightmare when things are being added to the bill and before you know it, you’re thousands over budget and the kitchen isn’t even finished yet!
- Your Contractor Is Rude
When you have entrusted your build to someone, you put your faith in them that they will get your home built with ease. So, to have a contractor that is rude and unhelpful isn’t the way to go. Your whole project that started as a dream can end in a nightmare if you’re not getting along well!
- Corners Have Been Cut
One of the most stressful parts of the puzzle is that you have your job finished, but there are things slightly off. The foundations are cracking, the insulation isn’t installed properly, the windows don’t quite fit – your contractor has cut corners, and now they’re not answering the phone.
- The Wrong Materials Arrive
You’ve placed your order for your kitchen and on delivery day, everything that arrives is completely wrong! You now have to send those back and wait for more counters and cupboards to come, further delaying your renovation. This may not sound like a big deal, but when you have taken time away from work, it’s definitely not ideal!
A kitchen remodel should be an exciting time, so make sure that you’ve done the right research so it’s a good thing!
