Springtime with Mamavation Monday
The beautiful springtime weather we have had this week has made me want to get up and do things. Laundry is done for the week. House is almost cleaned and windows are open to let the fresh air in. I love this time of year.
It got me thinking about all the outside activites you can do outside with your kids. Here are some I thought of:
- Playing in the sandbox
- Going to the park
- Playing ball
- Helping out with yard work.Swing Set or toddler slide
Right now as I type this I am watching my son help my husband with yard work. Picking up the leaves that didn’t get picked up last fall, working on getting a garden in. Aww the smells and sights of summer is ahead.
This week food wise has been a good one. I did make my goal to eat in more which not only was good on the pocketbook but it helped with protion control. I got my new Earth Footwear this week and my feet are in heaven. I really think these are going to help my plantar fasciitis. They just feel wonderful.
I am also becoming more aware of what I am feeding DS. We do A LOT of chicken nuggests, hot dogs, and some frozen meals for him. I know these are not healthy things for him but sometimes it just has to be done. So I am starting to cook more real food for him even if we are having steak, nothing wrong with throwing a chicken breast on the grill right? I have also been dying to try Subway’s new breakfast. Half the calories than McD’s?!? Who wouldn’t love that. I want to try the steak one. Looks yummy. Maybe tomorrow morning I will do that as I drive by.
My goals for this week will be again to eat more real foods, exercise a bit more now I have my shoes, and drink water. That has slacked a bit. I would also like to see a weight loss this week. For the past 2 weeks I have stayed the same so I need to step my game up a bit. I want to thank all the Sistah’s for their support. I appreciate all of you.
I can’t wait for the Mamavation Moms to be announced Monday night! EEEE I am excited for everyone. See you then!

I love the suggestions for outside activities with the kids. I’ve been holding at the same weight for two weeks too but I’m not worried, my body is changing. Take your measurements and see if yours are changing too!

Exactly! Exercise doesn’t always have to a “solo-act;” I’ve been trying to intentionally do things with my little girl outside: gardening, racing, playing kickball, going on walks. . .things that get both of us active.
I second Renee — from info I’ve been reading, some “plateaus” aren’t really plateaus at all. Your measurements will tell the real story!
Good luck this week!

Step it up Karla! Be inspired by the changing season and the changes you have started. See you at the party tonight.

With the family, break them in a bit at a time. It’s very hard to make the transition with kids, but it can be done if you are patient and do things one thing at a time. It’s a matter of getting into the habit of doing things differently and giving different choices. We should do a post on healthy meals for kids that are easy for mom….

sometimes those plateaus are just getting us ready for the big loss! Love this time of year for getting active!

I found that I needed to fix real meals for my boys too but they still get chicken nuggets every once in a while. Congrats on the Earth Footwear too by the way. I’m green with envy lol! 😉

Subway breakfast was great! I am working on my family as well. I just have changed the way I cook… since I do the cooking they have no choice. I also do the shopping so I am just dont buying junk.

That has been a goal of mine this spring too…transforming the food we consume as a family. We used to subsist off of nuggets, pizza, mac & cheese, frozen dinners, etc. Now I’m cooking more meals from scratch and love it. Easing the kids into the transition is important though! And to make it work on those uber-busy days when there isn’t time to make an entire meal? I often will double a recipe when I do have time to make a meal, and then freeze one of the meals so it will be available on one of those days when I only have time to thaw and throw it in the oven. Or I’ll take a Saturday and make up 8-10 meals that I then freeze for the same purpose. That allows us to continue to eat healthy home-cooked natural meals even when life gets crazy!
