Using Your 4 Walls: Keeping Track of Your Health at Home

Everybody has been almost sick to death of being encased in their four walls, but the benefits of being at home have become apparent for many. When you are at home, you get a sense of control over many aspects of your life. And it’s important to use your home environment for the benefit of your health. And for those people who are still somewhat wary about going out into public and using public facilities, how can you work in your home environment to your advantage to get the benefits?

Breathing

One of the most important functions we all need to have, but surprisingly so few of us do it properly. The first thing you need to do is make sure that your home is actually conducive to breathing properly. Whether this means having an air conditioning repair company fix your AC , or making sure that your home is as free from allergens like dust mites and mold as possible, once you fix these issues, you can start to focus on breathing properly. This means, to begin with, using your diaphragm, but also incorporating a number of other tactics, through practices like yoga, as well as methods you can use for free, such as the Wim Hof Method.

Detoxing

One of the biggest things we’ve all missed is detoxing by going to a spa and having a steam room or sauna, but you can very easily mimic the effects of a steam room or sauna in your home, just as long as you are happy to have a slightly higher water bill! One of the best things you can do is to have a hot shower running, which will unblock your pores, but also, you can have this in combination with a hot bath and Epsom salts to help speed up the detoxifying process. Make sure that you aren’t in a boiling hot bath for too long, or alternate it with a cold shower.

Destressing

Some people go to yoga classes, others like to unwind in a spa by having a massage, and while it may not feel the same as having a professional massage, you can get a lot of the benefits of physical destressing by using a massage gun, a foam roller, as well as a back stretcher. If you have lower back problems and have knots, you could benefit from having a back stretcher, which can minimize, or in many cases, completely remove the sensation of lower back pain.

Exercising

Of course, getting fit and healthy is also important, and you can do this at home easily. It’s about making sure that you have someone there to motivate you, so you can get the last few reps in. Don’t forget your body doesn’t know the difference between a wall or an expensive piece of equipment. In fact, one of the best ways to achieve definition and strength is to incorporate isometrics into your workout routine, which involves you tensing your muscles, or moving an immovable force. For example, you can very easily get the benefits of isometrics by trying to lift something that cannot be moved.

As you can see, these are just a few simple ways to keep track of your health at home. You may have not thought about the best ways to utilize your home, because you have potentially become fed up with the same four walls. But if you need to save money on gym and spa memberships, these are some of the best practices you can do.
