One of the biggest issues that people experience when they try and get fit is that they go too hard, too soon. They go from not doing enough exercise to doing too much. This is not practical, and it is certainly not sustainable either. On top of that, it’s a very good way for you to injure yourself too. If you want to help yourself then you need to try and set yourself modest goals. You then need to make it your priority to achieve them. As an example, it’s a good idea for you to start by going on a short walk with your family. You can then increase the time and the speed as you begin to get much more comfortable.
Set some SMART Goals
It’s wise for you to set some SMART goals when it comes to your health. This includes being specific about what you want to accomplish and also trying to measure your progress. How are you going to know that you have met your goals properly? You also need to look at relevancy. Do the goals that you have set make sense for your family? Lastly, think about time. How much time will the goals that you have set take up? Do you have the time to actively meet them? For example, you may decide to walk for half an hour a day, and then do this four days a week. This will help you to create a calendar and it will also help you to check the boxes too. You never know, you may end up loving your fitness journey so much that you obtain online CPR certification and go on to becoming a personal trainer!
Have some Fun
One of the biggest problems that you will face when you are trying to get fit with your family is that you think you have to do activities that you know you hate. Some people love doing sit-ups or running, but others don’t. Either way, you have to remember that there are always many ways for you to get into shape. Going for a walk with your family is one way for you to get fit, but you can also ride your bike on some of the many cycling trails that are out there. You can also choose to do an exercise DVD in the comfort of your own home too.
Limit any Screen Time
Limiting screen time is super important. That being said, it can also be a huge challenge. You may think that when people are working at home- it’s hard to practice what you preach. You need to try and schedule some breaks throughout the day so that you and your family can be away from screens in general. This could include going outside for a little while, so make sure that you are taking advantage of this. Set some limits and make sure that you stick to them. You have to make sure that you stick to your guns, too.
