Night Buddies and The Pineapple Scare- Book Review and #Giveaway

night buddies book reviewWe are a huge book family so when I got asked to be apart of this book tour I was thrilled. Just another book to add to our collection and finally a new book to read at bedtime.

About the book

This book is all about lights out adventures. Pineapple cheesecakes have gone missing from the cheesecake factory. A bright  red crocodile, gets his friend  John to help straighten things out. The daring duo sneak out of John's house by becoming invisible, with the help of the I-ain't-here doodad Crosley uses from the bunch of whatchamacallits hanging on his belt.

They must stay on program and chase the bad guys, clean up messes, and solve this huge mystery.  Can they do it? You will meet some great characters that you will not forget. This is a fun loving book for the whole family.

About the Author

Sands Hetherington, creator of the Night Buddies series of chapter books, credits his son John for being his principal motivator. Together they developed the Crosley crocodile character during months of bedtime story give-and-take. Sands majored in history at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and has an M.F.A. in creative writing and an M.A. in English from UNC-Greensboro.

My Review

At first I didn't know how a chapter book would go at bedtime with my son. He is 4 and of course needs to know what happens now. We read the first two chapters the first night and he was really loving the book. At the end I told him it was time for bed and we would read more tomorrow. He didn't like that answer. Of course tomorrow to him was when he first wakes up. I told him he has to wait until bedtime. Needless to say, we ended up reading more of the book after daycare and then again at bedtime. He just couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded. Of course this came with lots of questions on what, where, when, and why. Typical for a four year old.

This was a great fun loving book that makes a great addition to our book collection. It was different but worked out rather well. We have read it a few times since then but again and has a little more patience now that he knows the ending.

  1. Thank you Karla for reviewing Sands Hetherington's first book in his Night Buddies series. My 2 year old also wanted me to read the whole book the first night, my 7 year old was better about waiting. They both loved the book and we are reading it again this week.

  2. I heard about this giveaway from a email from giveaway promote daily. Thanks
