Empower Your Child
Believe it or not, our children could actually be more evolved than us when it comes to being empowered. Often times we don’t need to empower them as they are born without any resistance. When the little ones announce that they will be singers or actors or astronauts they really do believe it until society convinces them that it’s not as easy as they might think, that “no pain, no gain”, that they don’t have what it takes. We want to spare them the disappointments but what we are actually doing is killing the enthusiasm that they are born with.
Our children could be our teachers and we can and should encourage them to live an empowered life from the start. I would really have appreciated to learn the following lessons as a child, instead of through years of self-development studies:
You get what you most think about.
Don’t worry because worry is a prayer for what you don’t want. Let your little ones fantasize about what they want to be in the future. Let them draw and play. Via your own example show them how to live in the moment and live life to its fullest.
If you have the capacity to think it, the universe has the capacity to deliver it.
Let your children become clear about what they want without your strong recommendations of what you would want them to be. What you should want them to be is happy.
Happiness is a state of mind.
While a toy can bring momentarily happiness show your children that this would be an external circumstance they would be influenced by. Real happiness is a choice and it’s purely mental. You and only you decide what to focus on. When you focus on the things that don’t please you, you make yourself unhappy. When you focus on the wonderful things in your life – you feel happy. And you and only you are the one doing the thinking. Show your children how this works.
Everything is possible.
Just because something has never been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done. “They all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round. They all laughed when Edison recorded sound. They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother when they said that man could fly.” It’s so important that our little ones believe that they can do things thought of as ‘impossible’.
You can become whoever they want.
If you only believe strong enough, you can have any profession you desire. And it’s so important that children feel they will be supported by their parents, whatever path they take.
The power of gratitude is immense.
Show your children the remarkable power of gratitude by expressing it whenever you can. Gratitude is the gateway to happiness and again, it’s a mental state.
