You like your kids. You like their friends. You want to know that they are all safe. One way to go about doing this is to have the house where all the kids want to hang out. By creating a fun and safe environment for them to hangout and be together, you can have the satisfaction of knowing what is happening in your child’s life as well as supplying a safe and friendly environment for them to be together. Here are a couple of ideas to transform your home into a teen approved hangout hot spot. 

Home Theater

With comfortable seating, a large screen and plenty of snacks, you can guarantee your kids and their friends will want to come over to watch movies in your home theater. Spend a little time creating a true theater experience by adding surround sound, room-darkening curtains or blinds and plenty of movies in an array of genres.

Game Room

You can create a game room in your finished basement or the den in your house. Add a pool table, foosball table, arcade machines and a poker table. A dart board, board games and video games are also fun activities for a game room.

Food

No one wants to hang out at their friend’s house with nothing good to eat. Ask your kids what kinds of foods and snacks they want and what their friends like. While finger foods are usually a winner for kids, do not forget to add a few healthy options as well so you can feel good about feeding everyone.

Outdoor Games

When the weather is nice out, send your kids and their friends outside. A basketball hoop, skating areas and bicycles are great for active kids. Get creative with other outdoor games such as volleyball, badminton or crochet. If you have a pool, you can about guarantee kids will be over to hangout in it during hot weather months.

Hot Tub

This is a fun idea because it works all year round. All teens enjoy a dip in a hot tub, wither in the cold of the winter or on the cooler nights in the warmer summer months. Many families will get a hot tub for outdoor use at less cost then a pool and it still allows you the freedom of the rest of your backyard.

Friendly Fire

If you have a fire pit or a place for a bonfire, kids will flock to your house in the evenings. Kids can roast marshmallows, make s’mores, cook hot dogs and just relax and talk around the fire. This is a cheap activity that engages kids of all ages.

Comfortable Garage

Sometimes kids just want to chat and decompress. If you have the ability to turn your garage into this place, it gives your kids space while ensuring they are still at home. You can add comfortable and stylish couches, rugs and even a music system.

No matter what you have in your house or yard that draws your teen and his or her friends to your house, be sure you are friendly and open for conversations. Do make sure everyone understands your rules though so all feel safe and comfortable.
