Five Tips For Keeping Your Kids Happy And Healthy
Raising kids that are healthy and happy doesn’t require a huge amount of money. One of the most important things kids need it your time. Simply involving your child in everyday tasks such as shopping and cooking will encourage them to eat healthy foods. Exercising together is good for both you and your kids, and taking a class as a family is a great way to spend an afternoon each week.
Cook Together
Eating is a necessity, as is shopping for food. The pickiest kids are usually the ones who are not involved in any part of the shopping or cooking process. Even small children can choose a new vegetable to eat with their dinner. Let them help with the preparation and they are almost guaranteed to try at least one bite.
Take Lessons
Think of something you and your child are interested in. It may be reading, sailing, restoring classic cars or anything that you share an interest in. You may not be able to take your child sailing every month, but they can begin learning how to sail by taking swim lessons in Houston until they are proficient. Then you can take a sailing class together or take a sailboat tour to celebrate the milestone of learning to swim.
Exercise Together
Hitting the gym is one way to get your exercise in each week, but it’s much more fun to go hiking with your family or play a game of softball with friends. Plan a group activity that gets everyone moving at least a couple of times per month. Encourage your kids to invite their friends so everyone can have fun together. You may need to break up the activities depending on the age and activity level of your kids so that younger kids don’t get trampled by the adults.
Clean Together
Chores are another thing that must be done, whether you want to or not. Take a couple of hours each week to turn up your favorite radio station and clean the house together. Even small children can help load the dishwasher or dust wooden furniture. Cleaning together is more fun than cleaning alone, plus it gives you more time for other activities after the chores are done.
Stick to A Bedtime Routine
Sleep is essential for both health and happiness. Starting a bedtime routine will make it easy for younger kids to anticipate bedtime. Most kids find comfort in their routine and won’t fight bedtime if they know what to expect. Older kids will enjoy having your attention for a few minutes at the end of the day and may use the time to talk to you about things that are going on in their lives.
