Angry Birds Star Wars Game Flash #Giveaway

ABThis is a quick one folks. The good folks at Hasbro is giving one lucky reader the Angry Birds Star Wars Millennium Falcon bounce game. We were lucky enough to have the chance to review this game.

We all know Habro right?!? Do I need to elaborate? Check out their site for the latest news and games.

My Review

Cooper was super excited.  We also received the Stormtrooper Pig foam flyer head.  He is Angry Birds obsessed. I am pretty sure he has completed Angry Bird Stars Wars on his Kindle, if not he is close. This game was great for him. Basically you get a cut out of the Millennium Falcon. Attached to the top of the ship are targets. You must bounce the Angry Bird balls (they are like ping pong balls) onto the ship, knock down the targets, and get the balls inside the cockpit of the ship.  This is not easy even for the big kids.

I think this game helps with logic skills. It makes the kids think if I do this then that happens.  We had some really good conversations about physics and how every action has a reaction. Right I know my son is only 5 and probably didn’t understand one word of what we talked about but it was a good way to learn. If I put anything in Angry Bird language he seems to pay more attention.

The Giveaway

Hasbro is giving one lucky reader a Angry Bird Star Wars game. I can’t say for sure which you may receive but you can’t go wrong right? This is a quick giveaway, it ends Friday 5/3. US Residents only. Good Luck

Iron Hawk Helicopter Review from Funky Planet

ironhawkSpring has kinda sprung here in Iowa. Typical Iowa weather is that it’s 70 one day and 40 the next. Being that spring is coming I loving finding new things that Cooper can play with outside. Now if it’s a Daddy and Cooper thing that is even better.  I was thrilled to get the chance to review the WebRC Iron Hawk helicopter from Funky Planet. I think my husband was more excited than Cooper.

About Funky Planet

Funky Planet was founded with a defiant spirit and a lofty mission: to build a better rc toy, in order to awaken people’s innate curiosity and passion for technology through play. By rethinking traditional design and development philosophies, Funky Planet is able to provide higher-quality, better-looking rc toys at a fraction of the price.

My Review

As I said, I think this was more of a thrill for hubby than Cooper. I must say, this is a toy that you want to get for an older child or make sure that hubby helps them out. This Iron Hawk can move!  It comes with 2 speeds and can be used both indoors or outside. I have to say I would recommend outside until you really can get a grip on the controls.

We first tried it inside and I had this poor thing hitting everything. I found the controls a tad touchy but I think once you get familiar with them it will get easier. We then decided to move outside where we had more space. This was perfect. While we didn’t get any better with the controls we did have a better time flying it and Cooper was able to get in on the fun.

The one downside, which I think is with many rc toys, is that the battery doesn’t last long. It can take over an hour to charge but you only get 10 min of flying time. There is a lot to this little guy. This isn’t your normal rc toy.  If your hubby is into these type of toys, this would make a great birthday or Father’s day gift.

Twiztt Cookware by Joan Lunden Review

frypanI am not a cook, as many of you have heard me say, but I do love to try new kitchen items out.  My husband bought a set a pan a year or so ago, you know the ones he thinks looked awesome but everything sticks at the bottom kind. We are such in need of some new cookware. I was thrilled to get the chance to review Joan Lunden’s new cookware, Twiztt.

About Twiztt

In 2010, she introduced her home décor collection Joan Lunden Home on QVC aimed at helping women attain easy décor at reasonable prices. Her line of healthy non-stick cookware, TWIZTT™ will launch in retail later this year. Lunden has a skincare line, Resurgence by the popular Murad Skincare, and she and her husband invented and launched Kinderkord, a child safety product designed to help parents and children stay connected. Five years ago she created Camp Reveille, a unique retreat where women from across the country come to recharge their fitness, renew their spirit, and learn the life skills needed to achieve a healthier balance in their lives. And every day, women visit her website for health, wellness, and lifestyle tips, family information and parenting advice. Lunden’s passion for inspiring women to take charge of their health & happiness has been at the forefront of many of her projects.

My Review

I received the Twiztt frypan for review. What I love about these pans is that they are eco-friendly and a very sturdy pan. Now I am not going to lie, the first time I used it, I burnt hashbrowns in the darn thing. Told you I am not a cook.  Unlike my other pans, these cleaned right up without leaving a huge mess. They are   Stainless steel frypan with ceramic non-stick,  PTFE free and PFOA free.  They do recommend that you handwash these pans, however I have put it in my dishwasher a time or two and it’s been fine. Maybe over time the non stick will wear off if put in too many times.

I know wedding season is coming up and graduations will be happening and Twiztt would make excellent gift choices for either occasion. Anyone will really enjoy this set (even us non-cookers).

Howard B Wigglebottom Learn about Courage Review and #Giveaway

HBWCourageAs my son gets older, his book styles change. I am pretty sure we are getting close to being over Micky Mouse and moving on to Spider-man and Super Heroes. One thing we can count is that We Do Listen books can be for any child. They have something for everyone and they share a great lesson in each book. I was thrilled to get the chance to work with them again to review Howard B Wigglebottom Learn about Courage.

About We Do Listen

We Do Listen Foundation brings the ability to enable children to enjoy inner peace and communicate in a more effective way. They are a Non-Profit organization that produce educational books and materials that help kids learn to listen, have self confidence and deal with bullies and violence. Most at the We Do Listen Foundation are volunteers and share their ideas on a more peaceful and harmony filled world.

My Review

One of the great things about this book is the characters are relate-able to Cooper because he is into super heroes right now. I love We Do Listen books because of the message in each book. I think the first one we read was Too Much of A Good Thing and to this day we still say that and he knows exactly what that means because of the book.

Learning about Courage is the same. This book has SuperBunny, SpiderBunny, and BatBunny all wrapped into one good book.  It helped Cooper understand that he can have fear and the courage to overcome that fear.  It opened up a great conversation about my fear of heights and that I would love to do daring things if I could muster up the courage to over come it. Of course like any 5 year old he said “You can do it Mom” It was a good lesson learned and one we will keep reading about many nights to come.

The Giveaway

We Do Listen is giving one lucky reader a book of their choosing. US and Canada residents only. Ends 4/4. Good Luck

HASBRO Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Review and #Giveaway

dragonMy son is a Transformers freak! We watches the cartoons, occasionally will sneak and watch the movies, and he role plays as the Decepticons.  It really doesn’t matter if your Optimus Prime or Mega Tron he loves them all.  I have a feeling this years birthday cake will be Transformer related.

The terrifying Predacon tyrant Predaking is a mighty evil from the ancient past with the power to burn entire worlds to cinders!

Take your Transformers adventures to the next level with this incredible Predaking figure and his twin Hydrafire blasters! Whether he’s in robot mode or dragon mode, he’s a scary enemy for any Autobot, and his twin Hydrafire blasters give him huge firepower against his Autobot enemies. Attach his hydra heads in dragon mode, where his tail becomes a sword! Keep converting him back and forth so he can handle whatever you throw at him!

transformers1My Review

Transformers Beast Hunter characters are based on the animated show. HASBRO has figures for each of their Transformer shows.  My son lit up when he saw this  because he is such a fan of anything Transformers. Of course he wanted it out of the box ASAP.

The Predaking figure does transform to a dragon but I can tell you, it takes some time doing it the first time. The nice thing with this is that it came with very easy to follow instruction on how to transform it.  Once you do it a couple times, its really easy to remember. They are very well made and don’t easily fall apart after playing with them a few times.

Beast Hunters I don’t think is a one of the shows he has seen so now that we have a figure from that show, we are searching to find the series for him to watch.

The Giveaway

HASBRO is giving one lucky reader a Transformer Beast Hunter Voyager Class set of their own. If you have a boy this is a must have toy! This is a quick giveaway and it ends 3/28/13. US Residents only! Good Luck

hbl Haircare Review and #Giveaway

HBLI hate my hair. I have natural curly hair and it seems to think it can do what it wants. Therefore, I keep is as short as I can without looking too butch. I also have dry scalp and oily hair, is that even possible? Maybe I should just be bald. HA So I like finding new hair products to see what can work for me. I was thrilled to get the chance to try hbl Hair Products.

hbl was born because one man was greatly impacted by cancer effecting his family, friends, and co-workers. Patrick was steadfast in his desire to create a product that treats and addresses one of the most unfortunate side effects of chemotherapy: hair loss. After years of formulating, testing and re-formulating, he proudly introduced HBL, Health, Beauty and Life.

My Review

I had the chance to try their hydrating products. They are paraben and sulfate free. The first thing we all do when we get a new shampoo or lotion is smell it right? This shampoo is a lovey flower smell.  While I am not a fan of anything that smells like flowers, other than real flowers of course, I still have enjoyed using hbl.

I find that it leaves my hair soft and I have noticed that my scalp doesn’t get dried out so quickly like other shampoos have.  I am one of those that also colors their hair. So each time I take a shower I am usually covered with hair falling out because it’s so damaged. Their hair  masque is a product that helps make hair stronger and naturally repairs the damage.

I have been using this system for about 3 weeks now, I wanted to give it some time to really work. Like I said, I have noticed my scalp doesn’t get dried out so quickly and I have seen less hair falling out then I normally do which is awesome.  Highly recommended if you are looking to improve on those qualities.

I have to say I love the story behind how and why this product was made. My family has seen it’s round of cancer. I have lost 2 aunts, a sister, and my father.  I know the heart he had to have put into the importance of this product and for that it ranks tops in my book.

The Giveaway

One lucky reader will win this hydrating system which includes the shampoo, conditioner, and the hair masque. Ends 3/21. US Residents only. Good luck

A Very Veggie Easter Collection DVD Review

easterVTWe are such a VeggieTale loving house. I just love the meaning of each movie we watch. This Easter collection is no different.

A Very Veggie Easter Collection contains 2 popular Easter DVDs “Twas the Night Before Easter” and “An Easter Carol.” Additionally, this set includes 2 popular CDs – “A Very Veggie Easter” and “Hosanna!” This is a perfect gift to include in any Easter basket this year!

My Review

Inspired by Dickens’ Christmas classic, this very special VeggieTales film explains why millions  around the world celebrate Easter past, present and future. There is always great messages in each and every VeggieTales DVD.  Cooper is 5 now and can fully understand what the meaning of Easter is. The daycare he goes to is also in a church so it helps he gets bible stories about the holidays.

Of course Larry was the highlight of the movie. Cooper kept asking where was his super suit. I told him the bunny had special powers as well. I can certainly see this movie being a highlight in the house until Easter.

Don’t miss out. Hop on over to Amazon today and grab a copy for your kiddos basket.

SodaStream Genesis Review

genesis_soda_starter_blackMy husband goes through more pop than anyone I know. I love pop but I like the flavored kinds instead of the really heavy and dark type. I was thrilled to get this opportunity to try the SodaStream. My husband had already tried one when he was living in England.  He was iffy about it but I think now they have more flavors out that I am swaying him to the light.

About SodaStream

SodaStream was founded in 1903 (wow) by W & A Gilby Ltd, London Gin Distillers. SodaStream seeks to revolutionize the beverage industry by providing a better alternative and environmentally friendly way for consumers to prepare their own refreshing carbonated beverages. They are all about consumer, partnerships, environment, and innovation.

My Review

Oh my word. Where has this product been all my life? At this point I am not sure how I functioned without it. There are several things I love about SodaStream. I received the Genesis model for review. First, I am living green. With the reusable bottles I am not harming the environment or having to worry about recycling pop cans. I love the variety of flavors they have. I have 3 favorites right now. I love the Crystal Light Strawberry, I would compare this to a strawberry crush pop. The Diet Pink Grapefruit is another favorite. While is says it’s compared to Fresca I would have to say it’s really not. Fresca is peach not grapefruit but regardless this flavor is light and not over powering, love it. Then my third favorite is the Diet Orange. My son really loves this one as well. I am hoping for a Diet Grape of some kind to come out.

I have not bought a pack of pop for myself in weeks. So I love that I am saving money. One container of flavoring is roughly $5-6 in my area (of course your area may be higher or lower in price). Generally one container can do about 25 litters of pop. Compared to pop prices I figure I am saving at least $3-4.

The SodaSteam is so simple to use. Simply fill the bottle with water, screw into the SodaStream, and press down three times. Add your flavor and your good to go. I generally make 3-4 litters per week. It’s saves on juice boxes for the kiddo as well and he simply loves it. Go get a SodaSteam today and I tell you, you will not be disappointed.

Well at first glance I was thinking “I don’t know if Cooper will get them” but after a few reads and some explaining he did get it. I really enjoyed the Heart Pumping Adventure. It really gave me a good chance to help explain good food and bad food. It helped explain what happens when we eat too much of the bad stuff.

The immune system was another one I also thought was a great teaching tool. I explained why he needs to wash his hands and why when he has a cold we cover our mouth and use a tissue. We all know how kids wipe their nose. Ewww.

Wine-Trax Glasses Review

winetraxI am not a huge wine drinker but there is a particular brand I do enjoy. Portion control is key on any healthy weight loss journey and this is where Wine-Trax come in. These portion control elegant looking wine glasses will tell you exactly how much your drinking without your guests being the wiser.

About Wine-Trax

Wine-Trax was created by Gail Curtis in 2008. She wanted to help others achieve their wellness goals by offering a common-sense approach to portion control which is discreet, effortless and elegant. In 2010 she expanded on this idea creating the Snack-Trax and Meal-Trax products.  She has a real passion for health and wellness and this is a dream of hers to help others.

My Review

All I had to say when I took these out of the box was WOW! These glasses are really elegant. You would never know the ring design on the glasses have meaning. You would think they were just the design (my hubby thought that).  Each ring on the glass represents how many ounces are in the glass.  From bottom to top, the rings represent 4, 6, or 8 ounces of wine.  If you really love your wine, go clear to the top rim for 11 ounces.

These are also dishwasher safe. That is great news for me as I hate doing dishes by hand. They say they are microwave safe as well but I don’t see me heating up my wine anytime soon. They are universal so I could see using them for beer and even a nice after dinner coffee.

I for one can not wait to add some more of these to my collection. I will for sure be adding this to my wish list.

Special Deal

Don’t miss out on this special discount and get your own set of Wine-Trax
