These days, there are many conflicting reports regarding cancer prevention. Some people might recommend specific kinds of foods and lifestyle changes to prevent cancer, while others may suggest against some practices. The truth is that cancer prevention is something that will continue to evolve as new research takes place. It’s not something that medical professionals can suggest without having at least some level of doubt.
But if you’re interested in protecting your body from the potential of cancer then there are a couple of lifestyle changes that will keep you healthy.
Understanding carcinogens and what they do
The word carcinogen is often used when talking about cancer. A carcinogen is essentially any kind of substance that promotes carcinogenesis, the formation of cancer. There are a number of known and potential carcinogens that are important to understand since they could be a part of your everyday life. This can include tobacco, alcoholic beverages, leather dust, asbestos and lead. If there are products you use that contain these carcinogens, it’s worth cutting them out from your life or at the very least, reducing the amount you use them.
However, it’s also important to understand that there are certain products on the market that may contain carcinogens. For instance, there are claims that some products like Zantac from as early as 1981 could have been promoting carcinogenesis. It’s extremely important that you learn more about all of the medication you take so that you have a better understanding if they’re dangerous or safe.
Protecting yourself from the sun
Skin cancer is one of the most common yet preventable types of cancer. The key here is to avoid the sun as much as possible and stay in the shade. If you have to be out in the sun, then cover exposed areas and make sure you use plenty of sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. In addition, you should try to avoid tanning beds and sunlamps when possible as they can be just as damaging as regular natural sunlight.
Establishing a healthy diet and weight
There are two components when it comes to physical health; our weight and also the nutrients we take in. There are many foods that can heal your body such as kelp and mushrooms, so it’s important to include these as part of your diet in moderate amounts. You should also consider getting rid of any unhealthy foods that are high in calories and don’t have many healthy nutrients. For instance, many junk foods such as sweets can be high in empty calories that don’t provide much nutrition. On the other hand, chicken is fairly moderate in calories but provides a lot of protein.
It’s also a good idea to maintain a healthy weight by participating in physical activity. Even just 30 minutes of physical activity every 2 to 3 days is a good idea. It can be walking, running, or other kinds of aerobic activities at home. As long as you’re working your heart and keeping it active, you’ll be promoting a healthy lifestyle.

It’s good to know from this article that we can come up with new ways of cancer prevention through new research. I’m also not sure if everyone is aware of what can they do to provide support for people who have this disease. Maybe I can try if there are websites where I can shop and make donations to people with prostate cancer.
