3 Things To Remember When Planning A Month Long Trip
Deciding that you want to travel for a whole month is a really exciting thing. You’re about to get up and go, experience a new country and new culture for 30 days, and learn to live like a local. It’s the kind of bucket list dream so many of us have, and now you’re actually going to make it happen!
But first thing’s first, you’re going to need to plan your trip pretty carefully. A month-long travel plan isn’t an easy thing to pull off! You don’t want to be stranded in another country without money, clean laundry, or any idea of where you are only 15 days in!
As such, we’ve come up with three things you should definitely remember about making a monthly travel plan.
It’s Expensive to Eat Out Every Night
If you were planning on trying out all the top restaurants in your destination of choice, you might want to firmly draw the eating out budget to a close there.
Trying to dine in style every night across four weeks is going to quickly rack up, and you’ll have less money for souvenirs, experience tickets, and getting breakfast on those early morning excursions!
So limit your eating out choices early on. Decide what food experiences are unmissable, budget for those, and then look into what you can do to self cater in between.
Remember, there’s going to be plenty of cheaper street food you can grab too, so you won’t miss out too much!
Hotels and Hostels aren’t Your Only Choices
Finding accommodation for a month-long trip is the most expensive part of the whole plan.
You’re going to need somewhere to sleep every night, and hopefully you’ll be able to bed down somewhere safe and private as well. Most people turn to hotels and hostels for this, and then sort their options by price low to high.
But these aren’t the only accommodation types to think about. You might want to find accommodation that caters to these longer trips instead.
Indeed, if you’re going to be in one place for the whole month, such as within a large city, think about serviced apartments and short term lets. Or if you’ll be going from place to place within a couple days, you might want to join a ‘couch surfing’ group.
Have Some Chill Days as Well
A month-long trip means you can do as much of your destination as possible at a pace that suits you. That means you don’t have to pack in as much as you usually would when traveling. And we highly recommend keeping that in mind more than anything else!
You’ve got 30 days to get through. You won’t be able to use all of those days if your feet hurt so much you can’t even leave your room. Take it slow, take it easy, and throw some chill days into your travel plan.
Month-long trips are a lot of fun, but they take some real prep work! If you don’t have the time, look at having BWK Travel help with the planning.
