Yoga is something that I just haven’t gotten into much. It’s a lot of twists and turns that I am not sure I can get my body to do. I have a lot to twist. Yoga is supposed to be relaxing and can lead to great weight loss. YogaSo what am I afraid of? Not sure. Maybe I will have to give yoga a try in the EAS Active this week.

I know that if I exercise and eat right then I have a balance healthy diet. I know it’s really hard for me to make time to exercise with my schedule with my son. I have to exercise at night because I can’t fathom getting up any earlier to workout. That is crazy. I could use some calm at night and I think yoga might be the ticket. It’s a form of deep relaxation and just the basic poses and breathing can relieve the stress and clear my mind for a restful sleep.

Hopefully the more relaxed I can get and the more peaceful things can get, the more contol I can have over the food I eat. I am a big emotional eater so if I can remain calm and stress free I can contol my food. I have done breathing techniques in the past but never with poses like yoga is. Hopefully with this combination I can concentrate more and clear the mind.

Not only can yoga help my mind but it can also tone my body. Holding those crazy poses should do something for me right?  They say that yoga stimulates your glands that increase your metabolism. The better you get at it the easier it is to burn the access fat. I would consider myself extremely overweight  and yoga is a good way to get the body in shape. It might be great for me and my knee.

Here are some poses recommended for beginners:

Downward facing dog-

Triangle pose-

Warrior I-

Godess Pose-

Okay these look like some poses I can actually handle. I am going to SLOWLY start this process becuase I have been known to injury myself working out. If you are looking for a calm, relaxing work out give yoga a shot and let me know how it goes.  If you are already doing yoga I would gladly take any tips for starting out!
