As simple as it may sound, dancing is a great way to burn calories and stay in shape. Go out to your favorite club or music hall and let loose to help you keep your heart rate up and your oxytocin flowing.
During the fall months, just before winter arrives, you can kill two birds with one stone by chopping wood. It can be an intensive cardiovascular workout. It is also a great way to build upper-body strength and eye-hand coordination at the same time.
While you do not need to literally sprint, setting a timer for 5-10 minutes and trying to clean as much as you can within the time limit will get your heart pumping while you tidy up. The key is to keep yourself moving quickly and continually to raise your heart rate.
Commercial Jumping Jacks
If you are turning into a couch potato, take time to cultivate a little cardio workout. Each time there is a commercial break, try to do as many jumping jacks as possible. You only have two minutes, so keep yourself moving. Try to get better with each commercial break.
Commercial Sit-ups and Pushups
If you find yourself becoming bored with just jumping jacks, throw in a little variety with sit-ups and pushups. Between all three, you will have a rather quality workout. To add a little leg work out, throw in a set of body squats as well.
Stationary Bike TV
If the commercial workout idea does not strike your fancy, how about a “Tour De France” during your favorite show or movie? See how far you can make it in the 30 or one-and-a-half entertainment you are enjoying.
While doing dishes or vacuuming, try to stay on your tiptoes for the duration of the cleaning. You can even incorporate calf raises during stationary cleaning. You will feel the burn in no time with emphasis on staying tall.
Squats during Brushing Teeth
Brushing your teeth should take two minutes. Why not throw in 20-30 body squats while you brush away the germs? See how many you can bust out in a short period of time.
Instead of driving your car to the store to pick up lunch, try walking or jogging there. Pick a day or two a week wherein you try to beat your previous time to make it to the store. You might as well even turn lunch into a simple and creative fat-burning activity.
Play with Your Dog
Running, jumping, throwing, or wrestling with your canine companion is a fantastic and creative exercise routine. Not only will you benefit, but also your dog will be appreciative of the attention.
