When it comes to self-care often we can put ourselves very low on the priority list. We will admit that our “to do lists” can be never ending, and so we tend to focus on every aspect of our lives and neglect ourselves. Many of us have a family that needs our attention. A monthly budget that needs to be in control of. Things to do. PLaces to be. Errands to run. With so much going on in our daily lives no wonder we tend to leave the self-care at the back of the list with a promise of doing it tomorrow. But we all know tomorrow never comes as other things take priority. But you can’t run a car on an empty engine, and a family cannot be supported, a house cannot be kept, and a budget cannot be adhered to if you are running on empty yourself.

We all need to take the time to fill ourselves up. That might mean taking a few minutes each day to feelgood. It might be exercising or eating well. Doing what it takes to fill our own engines back up regularly means that we are in tip top shape to tackle that to do list on a daily basis. So what can you do to take better care of yourself? Looking after your mind

One of the first things you can start to do is to take care of your mind. It will probably be the most neglected part of your body as often your thoughts naturally happen without much thinking being involved. If you understand what I mean. What you need to consider is that negativity can breed negativity, and you can have negative thought whirring around your brain without you really realizing it, but they will be affecting you in. Your mood can be affected, your actions even. Working on your mind means creating new habits of positive thinking. Even doing things like meditation can help you to clear your mind at the end of the day, ro even at the beginning, and help to focus your mind. It could even help you to prioritise a little better.  

Changing your appearance

You probably don’t get much time to do your hair or put on your makeup in a morning, am I right? But these sorts of actions can actually dramatically change the way you feel about yourself, especially when it comes to your mindset. Preparing for the seasons ahead

Finally, with the changing of the season you may want to start thinking about your home and your wardrobe. Being organised can actually be a great thing, both physically and for your mindset. Sorting out the clothes you can start to wear once more, clearing your home of clutter and mess and generally preparing yourself for the seasons ahead. It helps you to feel in control of things.
